  • Ali Zafar: I play peacmaker between India and Pakistan

    Ali Zafar

The Chashme Baddoor actor feels that politics and art should not be mixed. The young Pakistani star is also trying everything in his capacity to bridge the gap between the two warring countries.

Ali Zafar is happy with the way Bollywood is treating him. The young Pakistani actor has made a mark in B-town with his performance in films like Tere Bin Laden and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. And now he is excited about his forthcoming release Chashme Baddoor. But he’s more than thankful for the appreciation he’s received – both from the fraternity and the country. “Both India and Bollywood are treating me nicely. It is co-related, after all. I think because India has accepted me for who I am, Bollywood is treating me nicely and because Bollywood has welcomed me graciously, India is treating me warmly. Lekin co-relation toh hain. And I could not have asked for more. I’m very thankful to the media, the fraternity and my audience for accepting me with an open heart and appreciating my work,” confessed the 32-year-old.

The cute Pakistani import came to India in 2004 as a singer, but now he’s glad that he’s been accepted as an actor as well. Zafar also maintained that politics should be separated from arts, music and films. “Art and politics should not be mixed. No matter what happens or no matter how many challenges we face, it should not hijack the attention from the peace process. People are just the same everywhere. There’s need to bridge the gap between the two countries and I am playing a role already towards spreading the same message. When I go back to Pakistan and talk about my work and films, it helps break a lot prejudices or wrong perception. People there realise that Indians are very warm, accepting and welcoming,” he concluded.
  • Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra and Ali Zafar’s Kill Dil to begin in September 2013

The shoot of Yash Raj Films’ next has been rescheduled to September from October 2013, confirms Zafar

Pakistani actor-singer Ali Zafar, known for his comedy roles, believes he has not been type-cast in the industry and so he is also trying his hand at different things – like action film Kill Dil.

“They can type-cast (anyone), but the industry has also got the capability to look through that. I don’t think I was (ever) typecast. People think that comedy is easy, but it is the most difficult genre. If one can do comedy, then he can do anything. That is why I think Aditya Chopra offered me Kill Dil, which is an action film. So, I think one should not get typecast,” said Ali.

Direced by Shaad Ali, Kill Dil features Ranveer Singh and Parineeti Chopra in lead roles. The film will go on floors in September, after Ali finishes shooting Aman Ki Asha, which begins in March. “It might release on August 15. It is a comedy film. I am playing a Pakistani boy in it,” he added.
