  • Salman Khan flies economy?

    SALMAN KHAN

MUMBAI, Feb. 19 -- Salman Khan, who usually keeps his audience entertained with his masala movies, went a step further on Monday. The actor surprised - or shocked? - the passengers on a JetKonnect flight by boarding the plane with an economy class ticket.

Salman Khan arrives at the Mumbai airport on Monday morning

On Monday morning, Salman returned to Mumbai from Hyderabad after attending a Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) match. Actors Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia D'Souza, Chitrangda Singh, Suniel Shetty and director Apoorva Lakhia also flew back on the same flight. The actor's arrival at the Hyderabad airport caused the usual chaos. But his fans thought the show was over when he began heading towards the boarding gates, assuming he would fly either business or first class.

However, everyone was taken aback when Salman proceeded towards the economy section and went about locating his window seat with his bodyguard Shera and a friend. Suniel and Apoorva, incidentally, were seated in the so-called 'premium class'.

Salman, who usually isn't the most approachable actor, was in a pleasant mood. When the airhostesses asked him for a picture, he gladly obliged. And he continued pleasing his co-passengers by signing autographs for about 20 minutes. Even though Salman did not seem troubled with the attention, the confined leg space was beginning to cause some discomfort as he was struggling to get in and out of his seat. Luckily, moments before the flight was ready to take off, the attendants managed to find the actor a first class seat.
  • Salman to launch his bodyguard Shera's son

    SALMAN KHAN

Couple of years back, Salman Khan's real life bodyguard Shera made a fleeting appearance in the title song of Bodyguard. Now Sallu has plans to launch Shera's 20 year old son Tiger.

Salman felt that Tiger did have some potential to shine on the silver screen and has been asking the young lad to work towards making his acting debut. It remains to be seen who would be helming this project.
  • Salman Khan plays Godfather, yet again

    Salman Khan

The man with a golden heart, Salman Khan is all set to launch yet another aspiring artist, his bodyguard Shera’s son, in Bollywood. The actor has been a God father to many Bollywood stars including Sonakshi Sinha, Katrina Kaif, Zarine Khan and many more. He not only launches them but also built them a strong platform for their sound growth.

He has also been an inspiration to many, including Sonakshi Sinha and Arjun Kapoor, who have been chubby kids, to shed those extra kilos.

If sources are to be gone by, the superstar latest discovery is none other than his very own bodyguard’s son, who is aged 20-years-old and has a very charming and pleasant personality. Sources also say that the young boy’s charm could take him very far in Bollywood and that he can make it very big on the big screen.

Well, Salman Khan himself confirmed the news too. He said, “He is Shera’s son. And with his looks and personality, we already have an in-house winner. At 20, he is so focused and determined.”

Now we know the reason behind that BIG fan following, the superstar has.

Meanwhile, Salman Khan will make his debut as a host at the upcoming 8th Renault Star Guild Awards 2013.
  • Why did Priyanka Chopra refuse to play a Salman Khan fan?

    SALMAN KHAN and Priyanka Chopra

The sassy Don 2 babe refused a role in Anurag Kashyap’s short film where she was supposed to play a fan of the Dabangg Khan.

‘Once bitten, twice shy’ seems to be the motto that Priyanka Chopra is going by these days especially when picking her roles. Why else would the Don 2 babe refuse to star in a segment of a movie that was being directed by Anurag Kashyap to mark 100 years of Indian cinema?

The role that Anurag had offered to Priyanka had Pee Cee playing a diehard Salman Khan fan. And although Priyanka was initially excited about the part, she refused to go ahead with it. Now if you recall, Pee Cee was thick with Salman at the time when she was offered the movie and was at logger heads with camp SRK. That was the time when Karan Johar famously snubbed her on Twitter and she was getting negative vibes from SRK’s close friends and hangers on. So perturbed by the strange scenario, Piggy Chops might have decided that it wasn’t worth the trouble.

Thus, the profit and loss equation prevailed over cinema, and Pee Cee chose to let go of a short yet amazing role in a film being directed by Kashyap in honour of the Indian film industry. Yet no harm done since Anurag is making the same movie with a bigger actor Amitabh Bachchan instead, where Big B will play himself in a story that shows a crazed Amitabh fan travelling from a small town to meet his icon.
  • Salman Khan has a new co-star for Mental: Daisy Shah

    Salman Khan and Daisy shah

Choreographer Ganesh Acharya’s assistant Daisy Shah has landed a plum role in Sallu’s next to be directed by Sohail Khan.

After a series of speculative reports suggesting names like Karishma Kotak and Diana Penty, Daisy Shah has been finally signed on to play the Dabangg actor’s love interest in Sohail Khan’s next home production tentatively titled Mental, confirms a trade weekly.

Although Daisy was being considered strongly for the part, Sohail apparently was also looking at Diana Penty and Karishma Kotak. Yet, it was Daisy’s special equation with Salman that helped the South hottie bag the role, which will be the most important role of her life, we are sure! Daisy is not a newbie to films – she was the female lead opposite South star Jaggesh in the original Kannada version of his 2011superhit movie Bodyguard.

We hear that the Being Human actor did an exclusive photoshoot with Daisy at his farmhouse on his birthday. According to our khabroo, the Rs 100 crore club actor is very keen to show off Daisy’s resume to help her get more meaty films. With Bhai’s full support, Daisy need not worry at all! After all, she knows that she’s soon gonna make it to the list of Rs 100 crore club of female actors…right, Daisy?

  • Salman Khan to go for treatment, finally!

    Salman Khan

Khan has been postponing his trip to the US for a long time now, but he is finally free and will undertake his treatment soon.

Bollywood star Salman Khan said that he would undertake a long-delayed trip abroad for treatment, which he had put off because of his acting schedule and the blackbuck poaching case in court.

“I had to delay going due to the acting schedules and the court cases. But now I will go,” he told the media at a Celebrity Cricket League match in Kochi Saturday night. Salman Khan is charged under the Wildlife Protection Act for allegedly poaching a blackbuck in Rajasthan in 1998. When asked about the case, he said: “I cannot talk about it right now.”

We hope to see Sallu in the best of health. We wish him a safe journey and all the strength to cope with his health problems.
  • SRK made me wear Lungi: Deepika now wants Salman

    chennai express2

Hopefully, Deepika Padukone's 'lungi' and shirt look from 'Chennai Express' posters does not spark a trend but it has certainly made everyone do a double take.

The actress reveals that film's lead actor Shah Rukh Khan and director Rohit Shetty came up with the idea to dress her in a 'lungi'. "That's something new and I hope it works," says Deepika about her look.

"The idea to wear a 'lungi' is not mine actually. It was Shah Rukh and Rohit who came up with it. We had to quickly do a photoshoot because we were losing the light. They were like 'Why don't we give her this 'lungi' and make her look modern'. The shirt that I am wearing in the posters also belongs to SRK, only the sunglasses are mine," the actress told.

The potboiler, which reunites Deepika with SRK onscreen after her debut in 'Om Shanti Om', is slated to release this year. Deepika, fresh from the success of 'Race 2', is looking forward to back-to-back releases this year. "It has been a good year but my next next six months are very demanding in terms of my schedule.

I hope all the hard work pays. I have 'Chennai Express' and 'Kochadaiyaan' with Rajini (Rajinikanth) sir is also ready for release," says Deepika. She has two other films --'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani', her film will Ranbik Kapoor and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Ram Leela'.

There were reports that she may star in Salman Khan's 'Kick' but the actress denies it. "That's all speculation. It probably stems from the fact that I had expressed a desire to work with Salman Khan. Maybe these stories are coming from there.
  • Bigg Boss 6 contestant Karishma Kotak to play the lead opposite Salman Khan in Mental

    Karishma Kotak

The model has finally managed to land a plum role in Sallu’s next, thanks to her excellent equation with the star.

Bigg Boss 6 contestant and Kingfisher calendar model Karishma Kotak has managed to beat her contemporaries including the leggy lass Diana Penty and the South actor Daisy Shah, to land the lead role in Salman Khan’s next home production Mental. Titled Radhe earlier, the movie is a remake of a South film, and will be directed by Sohail Khan.

Although Karishma was already being considered strongly for the part, director Sohail Khan apparently was also looking at Diana Penty and Daisy Shah. Yet, it was Karishma’s special equation with Salman, which helped the British-Indian model bag the role, which one can say, will be the most important role of her life! “Salman has had a good equal with Kotak ever since he shot a TV commercial with her last year. In fact, he also advocated for her inclusion in Bigg Boss 6. He believes the model can deliver a strong performance on screen,” said a source close to the film.

Incidentally, this will not really be the Hindi movie debut for Karishma since she has already acted in a little known film called Season’s Greetings in 2010 which sank without a trace! This time though, the babe can bank on Sallu miyaan to deliver a blockbuster performance. Mental is all set to go on floors next week.
  • Salman accepts an award after 14 years

    Salman Khan

Salman Khan takes the stage to accept an award after 14 years of playing the avoidance game.

Salman Khan may have had several blockbusters at the box office but the star is known to avoid going on the stage to pick up awards

However, after a gap of nearly 14 years Sallu was back on the podium to accept an award - Best Brand Endorser - conferred on him.

A source says, `It is ironic that when Salman started his career, he didn't win any awards. But when he actually began winning trophies, he didn't go to collect them. However, for this one he made an exception. `

The last time Sallu accepted an award himself was for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The source says, `When the result was announced he couldn't believe he had won. Members of the audience had to prompt him to go to the stage and accept his trophy.
  • Salman Khan may be charged with homicide

    salman khan

Salman Khan could be facing 10 years in prison after an Indian court has ruled that he should face the serious charge of culpable homicide. The Bollywood superstar reportedly drove his car into a bakery shop on 28 September 2002, which killed one street sleeper and injured four others. Salman denies having drove the car during the incident and will be challenging the court to prove his innocence. He was initially charged with culpable homicide, but was then given the lesser charge of ‘causing death by negligence,’ after a successful appeal was made.

However, in March 2011 the prosecution applied for Salman to be charged again with culpable homicide. It is only now that the Indian court has responded to this application. “There is enough evidence to show that the act was not incidental and hence the case should be tried under a more serious section,” says Magistrate Vasant Patel.

Depesh Mehta, who is Salman’s lawyer, has told the BBC that he will now have to appear in court on 11 March. Mr Mehta had this to say to a BBC correspondent in defence of the actor. “In our humble opinion there was no need to add this charge, there are no changes in the circumstances.” Adding, “When a man knows he is innocent and then he has to face this court order surely he will be hurt. But we have faith in our judiciary. And it is our belief that justice will be given to him.”

Salman, who is 47, was sentenced to five years in prison in 2006 for hunting and killing a blackbuck deer, but was released on bail after having spent less than a week in jail. His appeal is currently pending on this particular charge.

Salman is currently at a high-point in his career, with films like Dabangg (2010), Bodyguard (2011), Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Dabangg 2 (2012) transforming into huge hits at the box office. This has resulted in a radical upsurge in his popularity with the Bollywood audience.
  • Salman Khan: I endorse only those products that I use

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been awarded the first ever Brand Endorser of the Year Award instituted by International Advertising Association. In connection to this, Salman said that promotes only those products that he personally uses.

“I endorse only those products that I use,” Salman said at the IAA Leadership Awards function recently held in Mumbai.

The 47 year old actor’s continuous box office success has made him a choice of most brands.

“When I endorse a product that means I am telling the public that you should also wear it, eat it or use it. If I do not use or consume any product, I will not endorse it,” he said.

Salman also called on the people from the corporate sector to support his Being Human initiative.
Being Human is an NGO set up by Salman Khan which sells T-shirts and other products to raise funds to support the underprivileged.
